"When we decided to create an online digital archive of in-depth photojournalism stories I had no idea of the HOW, especially the technical side of making it happen. I was driven by the need and just had to figure it out along the way. While developing the concept one of our board members, Tom Kennedy, suggested we connect with MediaStorm, which had the best reputation in the industry for creating a platform that was both top drawer visually but also broad in its scope. 

Brian and his team fully supported our project from the beginning. He is always accessible, infinitely patient with my slow learning curve and regularly offers advice on how to make the archive look better and function more efficiently. 

A year into building the archive and we continue to grow and improve our display as we learn to master the tools of the MediaStorm platform. One of the most important features for our project is how good the platform is at helping us contextualize the stories and enhance the viewer experience. "I wanted to take a few minutes from my travels to thank you again for helping me convert my site and projects to the MediaStorm Platform. I had lunch the past two weeks with numerous former students and colleagues in NYC and in Chapel Hill and our conversations naturally meandered back to the many projects we did together and the challenges of hand coding, designing and constructing every aspect of content and interactivity as we progressed.

To now have a toolset that allows the simple and seamless integration of video, playlists, slideshows, covers, podcasts, pages, timelines, podcasts and audio at my fingertips seems miraculous. If I had had this toolset a decade ago, I’d probably still be producing projects. And the fact that it is a living organism that continues to evolve and grow is even more amazing. Every time I log-in I learn something new or find a way to add important content features to my storytelling.

I guess I shouldn’t be amazed or surprised because MediaStorm has been leading the visual storytelling industry since its inception almost two decades ago. We each took non-traditional paths in our visual storytelling careers, but I want you to know how much value you’ve contributed to and continue to contribute to the profession. You’ve trained and influenced an entire generation of storytellers and now you’ve freed us from the most burdensome aspect of storytelling by creating and providing a malleable platform that allows us to easily infuse our own creative visions into the publication of our work. This removes a major stumbling block from the process and opens the door for endless important storytelling.

I look forward to following the evolution of this toolset and continuing to learn more about its many features as I add new aspects to and experiment with my own storytelling. I also look forward to watching the platform grow and spread throughout the industry and academe and provide all storytellers an easier way to build and share their important stories.
